the Village of Frankfort a reality. The 1840's brought German settlers
from the Pennsylvania area to Frankfort. Frankfort Township was named
by Frederick Cappel after his home in Frankfurt-Am-Main, Germany. Years
later, in 1855, the Joliet & Northern Indiana Railroad built a line
through the present Village 'Frankfort Station'. After the Village was
incorporated in 1879, the word 'Station' was dropped from its name.
